Description | Dear Sen. Maria Cantwell:
Let me identify myself not only as a constituent but also a fervent, albeit modest, supporter who held an early (admittedly small) fundraiser for your first campaign and who made a small financial contribution to your second. Forgive this awkward introduction; I merely want to establish that this is not part of the rant from Seattle's loco left, which is quite prepared to risk the election of your Republican opponent just to see you get your comeuppance.
You have, to be sure, a considerable number of the state's Democrats in some disarray. For the first time in six years, we're buoyed by the prospects of recapturing at least one -- possibly both -- houses of Congress and of contemplating awakening from the political nightmare that has enveloped this country since the century's turn! With Darcy Burner's and Peter Goldmark's campaigns up and running well, Washington is poised to make its contribution to regaining the House. But you have us worried whether we'll keep your seat in the Senate. It's an anxiety that need not be. |
