DescriptionStocks tumbled for the third straight session Friday as record oil prices, geopolitical tensions, sluggish retail sales and a tough start to the earnings season took a toll on investors.

The Dow Jones Industrial average fell (down 132.79 to 10,713.50, Charts) 1.1 percent with about 75 minutes left in the session, just about wiping out its gains for the year.

The world's most widely watched stock market gauge has lost over 400 points since the close Tuesday, leaving it near where it ended 2005.

The broader Standard & Poor's 500 (down 9.07 to 1,233.22) index slipped 0.7 percent and the Nasdaq composite (down 20.11 to 2,034.00) slid about 1 percent Friday, dragging them further into the red for the year.
