Description | Former Kansas Governor Bill Graves says you "never say never."
That's why he's not ready to say he'd never leave his current job as head of the American Trucking Association. But he also says it's not a decision he expects he'll have to make.
Graves spoke to 13 News Tuesday from his ATA office near Washington, D.C. He says he's flattered by reports in the Washington Post and Reuters that he is the frontrunner to replace Norman Mineta as U.S. Transportation Secretary, but he says he's certain the Bush administration is considering a number of good candidates. Graves says no one from the administration has contacted him about the position and he is not actively seeking it.
Graves says he recently made a new, five-year commitment to the ATA. He says he's very satisfied with where he's at, so he wouldn't be disappointed if his phone doesn't ring. If it does, he says it would be "a very awkward and difficult decision." |
