An excerpt...
"Rep. Patrick Kennedy, a member of one of America's most famous political dynasties, was to plead guilty on Tuesday to driving under the influence of prescription drugs when he crashed his car near the U.S. Capitol last month.

Kennedy, 38, a Rhode Island Democrat, is the son of Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Edward Kennedy and a nephew of former President John Kennedy.

He has publicly acknowledged a long struggle with drug dependency and bipolar disorder and was treated at the Mayo Clinic last month after the May 4 crash. He completed his treatment last week and resumed his work in Congress.

"Congressman Kennedy has agreed to enter a guilty plea to the charge of driving under the influence of prescription drugs," the city's prosecutor, Robert Spagnoletti, attorney general for the District of Columbia, said in a statement.

In exchange for his plea, two other charges of reckless driving and failure to exhibit a driving permit were dropped, said Spagnoletti.

"Congressman Kennedy has said all along that he would take full responsibility for his actions and that's what he will be doing today," his chief of staff Sean Richardson said.

Kennedy was to appear in court at about 2 p.m. EDT on Tuesday before Judge Aida Melendez in the District of Columbia Superior Court."
