Description | A national survey on Prime Minister Stephen Harper's proposed democratic reforms found overwhelming support for the proposed plan that would see Canadians vote in fixed elections every four years in the month of October. About eight of 10 respondents said they agreed with fixing election dates--a reform that would be especially applicable with majority governments.
A plurality of Canadians favour an elected Senate but almost as many show surprising support for simply abolishing it, the poll indicates.
