Description | It was a simple question, one that U.S. Rep. Mark Green should have been expecting.
Obviously he wasn't - and now his opponent in the governor's race has an issue to throw at him.
During a May 19 interview for Wisconsin Public Television's "Here and Now" news show, anchor Frederica Freyberg put this simple question to the Republican gubernatorial candidate: "If you were to become governor, would you pardon Scott Jensen?"
Jensen, who served as part of the Assembly leadership team with Green in the '90s, had been sentenced to 15 months in state prison for political corruption just three days earlier. And Green was being interviewed in Appleton, where he would accept the GOP nomination for his gubernatorial bid.
Given those two factors, a good reporter is almost certain to ask the timely question, "Would you pardon your ol' pal?"
Green's initial response: "Good Lord." |
