Description | Feingold, Warner show some choices that await party in 2008 race
Taking turns addressing a hall full of Wisconsin Democrats, Russ Feingold and Mark Warner provided a small preview of their party's next presidential race.
Feingold is a Senate liberal from Wisconsin who opposes the Iraq war, wants to censure President Bush and thinks Democrats need a "backbone."
Warner is a former Virginia governor, "big-time capitalist" and avowed centrist who preaches consensus, good management and "results."
The two said nothing but nice things about each other.
But in their contrasting styles, backgrounds and rhetoric, they typify some of the choices that Democrats will face when they select their 2008 nominee. |
