Description | In just a matter of days, early voting begins Monday in New Orleans and at locations across the state as the first ballots will be in the city’s elections.
The Board of Supervisors for Elections inspected and sealed more than 20 machines that are to be used in next week's early voting at City Hall and at the courthouse in Algiers. The supervisors made sure that all machines were at a zero count before they closed the machines.
Meanwhile, Louis Keller, New Orleans Registrar of Voters, said his office has had the most requests for absentee ballots he's ever seen in an election. At last count, Keller said 16,000 ballots had been requested but he expects that number to increase to more than 20,000. While there may be a little confusion, Keller said he does not expect any major problems with absentee voting.
