Description... How does someone who’s lived out of the state most of his life, raised almost $1 million from people out of state, step into another race he was not raising the initial million for, and expect to be the nominee? ...

The money raised belongs to the campaign of Bill Halter, a man who links himself to Bill Clinton & Wesley Clark, though they do not choose to publicly link back.

Halter sauntered onto the scene promising to be David meeting Goliath last fall. He said he would defeat Mike Beebe and be the new face of the Democratic Party of Arkansas. His staffers meanwhile picked street fights with everyone from the Arkansas Democratic Party members to supporters of Mike Beebe, while Halter & Drew Pritt publicly scuffled.

It is this battle Halter was facing against Mike Beebe that concerned Arkansas Democrats. Beebe would have a spirited challenge from Halter then face Asa Hutchinson, whose ethical questions are becoming well-documented, yet conveniently ignored by those in the Republican Party who see nothing hypocritical in screaming about the perceived ethical lapses of others, namely Beebe.

Now Halter after using his titanic fight against Beebe has raised a large campaign war chest, has chosen to enter another race, where he showed no interest before. To justify this move, he cited the fact that Jim Guy Tucker had done the same thing in 1990...

Somewhere in this process the interests of regular people of Arkansas get shunted off to the back burner.

But Arkansans have an opportunity to say “enough is enough.” While Halter and his out of state D.C.-insider staffers schmooze and booze at big-bucks fund-raisers with deep-pocketed and self-interested contributors, Drew Pritt has been out taking his message of progress to regular Arkansans of all communities.

Pritt has raised a fraction of Halter’s haul - just over $24,000. While this may seem to cast him as the early underdog, it is prudent to remember that the candidate with the most votes
