Description | The local Republican Party filed a complaint with local and federal authorities Thursday alleging that Democrat Francine Busby ---- the biggest threat to Republicans in the race to replace former Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham ---- violated the law by having campaign information on a Web site for Cal State San Marcos, where she was a professor.
Busby and her campaign called the allegation "patently false." A university professor who ran the Web site in question said Thursday that Busby never had access to the site and could not have posted the information, which was included in a biography of Busby.
"I never used my position as a professor to promote my candidacy in any way," Busby said in a written statement in response to the complaint. "Any claim that I used my faculty position improperly is simply false." |
