Description | Al Weed and Bern Ewert fielded questions Saturday about why each is the better candidate to knock off U.S. Rep. Virgil Goode, R-5th, in November.
Roughly 40 people attended a meeting of local Democrats at Ryan’s restaurant. Both candidates shared similar views on the Voting Rights Act, health care for veterans and more federal aid for students.
Ewert stressed his record on creating jobs. He said he brought 5,000 jobs to Roanoke in nearly eight years and about 3,500 high-tech jobs to Prince William over a three-year period.
“The key issue is jobs,” Ewert said.
Ewert said after the meeting that he has raised about $20,000 to $30,000 for the campaign. However, the Federal Election Commission Web site does not list Ewert’s campaign as being registered.
