Description | State Sen. Sharon Marko of Cottage Grove today announced that she will battle FBI whistle-blower Coleen Rowley for the Democratic endorsement in the 2nd Congressional District in the Twin Cities south suburbs.
Marko, 53, has served in the Legislature since 1994.
Both Marko and Rowley, who lives in Apple Valley, want to challenge two-term incumbent Republican Congressman John Kline of Lakeville in the November election.
"My top priority in Congress will be to make our families and communities more secure," Marko said in a news release announcing her candidacy. "For most Americans, security is about making health care affordable for our families and small businesses, investing in education to keep America competitive and ending the dangerous borrowing and massive deficit spending that threatens our nation's economic future." |
