Description | Gov. Dave Heineman is heading into the May primary with nearly twice as much cash on hand as U.S. Rep. Tom Osborne in the race for the state's top job.
Both Republicans raised more than $900,000 each through the end of last year, but Osborne outspent the incumbent more than 2-to-1 to finish the year with nearly $316,269 on hand, compared with Heineman's $610,239.
Osborne raised $972,760 in the latest period and spent $653,292, based on reports filed Tuesday with the state's Accountability and Disclosure Commission. Heineman raised slightly less, $922,201, but spent about a third of that, $300,242.
The other Republican running in the May primary, Omaha businessman Dave Nabity, has $10,098 cash on hand. He raised $261,632 in the latest period and spent about $113,652 of that.
The lone Democrat in the race, David Hahn, hadn't filed his report as of midday Tuesday. A call to his campaign office was not immediately returned. |
