| Description | PHOENIX - Former Arizona Gov. Sam Goddard died today, according to a spokeswoman for his son, state Attorney General Terry Goddard. He was 86.
Spokeswoman Andrea Esquer said Sam Goddard died around 5 a.m. His cause of death was not immediately available.
Goddard served one two-year term as governor, losing a re-election bid to Republican Jack Williams in 1966. Goddard was also a former state Democratic Party chairman. |
