DescriptionA Republican Party mass mailing to seniors picturing Gov. Jeb Bush in front of an AARP banner has rankled the state's biggest elder advocacy group.

The flier was included with absentee ballot request forms the GOP is sending to thousands of voters as part of a program to increase Republican turnout in the Nov. 5 election. AARP leaders worry it subtly and falsely suggests an endorsement by the group.

The AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that does not endorse candidates.

''Their attempt is to put their arms around our 2.6 million members, and we're not reciprocating,'' said Bentley Lipscomb, who was a key advisor to the late Democratic Gov. Lawton Chiles and now heads the AARP in Florida.
