Description | Methuen High School junior David "D.J." Beauregard Jr. wasn't giving high-fives in the hallways yesterday — he was giving handshakes in the Statehouse.
The aspiring politician was one of about 20 juniors and seniors from seven Merrimack Valley high schools who got an up-close look at the epicenter of Massachusetts politics. The students were chosen by their high schools to participate in a program organized by state Sen. Steven A. Baddour, D-Methuen, aimed at teaching them about state government through a series of monthly meetings and field trips that will run through May. More than a dozen politicians stopped by the Senate reading chamber to visit with the students and talk law-making... |
