Description | The political ground is shaking statewide because of Ed Case's decision. His seat in Congress is now up for grabs. And at least two Democrats are officially in.
There's no official Democrat in the race yet against Governor Linda Lingle. Now Democrats must survive a big break in the ranks. Is the party in chaos?
"No, the party's not in chaos, but I think what we're about to see is an incredible political chess game that's about to emerge here," says Brickwood Galuteria, state Democratic Party chairman.
"I must confess that I was stunned by announcement," is the statement by U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye, head of the Democrat food chain. That signals old time Democrats are closing ranks behind Akaka. |
