Description | A bill passed Friday by the Mississippi House and companion legislation in the Senate would loosen the legal restrictions on when people may shoot trespassers in their homes, businesses or cars.

Sen. Merle Flowers, R-Southaven, is one of the co-signers on the Senate version. He says the legislation has special relevance to DeSoto County because of its proximity to Memphis.
"The vast majority of the crime in our county comes from riffraff from across the state line," Flowers said. "This is all about protecting the public interest and this gives people the right to protect themselves." |
