Description | When Len Munsil formally announces his gubernatorial bid next month, it could create a potentially uncomfortable situation for the anti-abortion movement.
Munsil, director of the Center for Arizona Policy, has a long history as a social conservative. He helped secure legislative approval of a requirement for a minor to obtain parental consent before getting an abortion.
He also has made repeated efforts — so far unsuccessful — to mandate a 24-hour waiting period before any woman can get an abortion.
But Munsil joins a Republican field that already includes two contenders also carrying the "pro-life" banner: Don Goldwater and Jan Florez.
John Jakubczyk, president of Arizona Right to Life, said that presents an interesting dilemma for his organization in deciding whom to endorse. |
