Description | A recount in Virginia's attorney general's race, the closest statewide election in modern state history, will be conducted Dec. 20, a Circuit Court judge ruled Tuesday.
The State Board of Elections last week certified Republican Bob McDonnell as the winner by just 323 votes out of more than 1.9 million cast in the Nov. 8 election. His opponent, Democratic Sen. Creigh Deeds, requested a recount.
Virginia law allows for recounts if the vote margin falls within 1 percentage point, and recounts are done at government expense if the difference is less than one-half of a point. |
