DescriptionOne day after the Cook County Democratic Party selected Tom Dart as its choice to replace retiring Sheriff Michael Sheahan, a group of Black elected officials unanimously their support behind law enforcement veteran Sylvester Baker.

At a sometimes raucous meeting Tuesday night at Captain's Hard Times Dining, 436 E. 79th St., more than a dozen elected officials, along with nearly 100 community activists and businessmen, heard from three candidates vying for the endorsement of the Black Elected Officials of Cook County.
