Description | The race for Sharon's legacy is on. Seven people have already thrown their hats into the ring and announced their candidacy for the Likud leadership.
Aside from Knesset Members Benjamin Netanyahu and Uzi Landau, other contenders include Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, who said Sunday that he would stay in the Likud come what may, Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz, who surprised everyone Monday morning by announcing his candidacy in an interview on a radio talk show, and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom.
In addition, word has spread from the camp of Education Minister Limor Livnat that many of her supporters have been asking her to join the leadership race. The seventh contender is Moshe Feiglin of "the Jewish leadership brigade," who a few months ago announced that he too would contend. |
