Description | State Sen. Becky Lourey, DFL-Kerrick, an unsuccessful candidate for governor in 2002, has called a news conference next week to announce her "future political intentions."
She told the Star Tribune last month that she probably will run again for governor. Her website, www.beckylourey.org, is headlined "Becky Lourey for Governor" and includes a link to a Zogby poll showing her public support close to that of Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
A news release about her appearance at 10 a.m. Tuesday at her family business, Nemadji Research Corp., in Bruno, said she will not grant interviews beforehand.
If Lourey, 62, enters the gubernatorial race, she would be the only female candidate for the office so far. The DFL field currently includes Attorney General Mike Hatch, state Sen. Steve Kelley of Hopkins, real estate developer Kelly Doran and frequent candidate Ole Savior. |
