Description | People who use colored contact lenses will have to get them from eye- care professionals under a bill that President Bush signed into law Wednesday.
The new law gives the Food and Drug Administration authority to regulate cosmetic and novelty contact lenses, even if the products do not correct poor vision.
The legislation would require people to see an eye-care professional to get fitted for the lenses and to be instructed in their use and care. Customers could purchase the lenses from their eye-care professionals or through online vendors. |
