5 on [Nashville Metro] council didn't vote on sales tax

| Description | Turnout was not just low among rank-and-file voters in this month's Metro sales tax election — it was also low among key elected officials.
Five Metro Council members didn't show up at the polls for the election affecting $57 million a year in city funding. Neither did U.S. Sen. Bill Frist nor U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper.
Councilmen Jason Alexander, Feller Brown, Carl Burch, Ronnie Greer and Michael Kerstetter did not vote in the referendum.
Gov. Phil Bredesen, a former Nashville mayor, was fishing on the voting day, his spokeswoman said late yesterday. |
