DescriptionAnother Republican name is making the rounds as the party looks for a viable challenger to Gov. Janet Napolitano next year.

Some top Republicans at the state Capitol and in Washington are seriously talking up Arizona Court of Appeals judge Jan Smith Florez as a possible challenger to the Democratic governor.

Florez is a Nogales Republican and is the former Santa Cruz County Attorney.

Florez is seen as a possible strong challenger to Napolitano because she is a woman; is from southern Arizona and has a Hispanic surname.
