DescriptionAfter careful consideration and consultation with my advisors, family and friends, I have decided to withdraw from the State Superintendent of Education race. I will give my full support to Karen Floyd and encourage my supporters to do the same. It is very important to all of us for Karen to be elected our next State Superintendent of Education, if South Carolina is to take its rightful place among the other 49 states.

There are many reasons why I have made this decision. The most important and major reason is that my wife and I are taking care of my 92 year-old mother. It is my responsibility to help take care of her and I will fulfill that responsibility.

My grandchildren and family need more of my time than I have been able to give. I thought that I would be able to have time for the campaign and my family. It has not worked out that way. So, I am choosing my family.

Finally, I thought that I would enjoy campaigning, but it requires a lot of money, time, and travel. I did enjoy meeting all of the people and made many new friends, but I did not like the traveling that was required. I want to thank my many supporters for seeing me this far. Education has been a major part of my life for many years and I hope to continue to be involved somewhere and somehow in the future.

When I enter the voting booth next year, I will vote for Karen Floyd.

Again, thanks and God bless.

Dan
