Description | Joe Schriner is running for president of the United States.
Most presidential candidates announce campaign stops three days in advance, sending out a fax with their itinerary and instructions on how to get credentials to meet the candidate. They arrive in nondescript limousines, always accompanied by an unsmiling entourage of men in dark suits.
Schriner, bald and heavily tanned, with a gray goatee and wearing a short-sleeve plaid shirt, showed up at the paper the other day in a 1971 stretch van donated by a supporter. He was hoping to talk to a reporter and pitch his ideas. He was accompanied by his wife and three children, including a 2-year-old son, Jonathan, who likes to yell out, “Vote for Joe.” |
