Description | Bob Whitman had never been to Iowa before, but it might become home after Hurricane Katrina.
"I love New Orleans, but boarding up my windows is getting a little old," Whitman said.
Whitman, the main technological officer for a New York business, fled his home in New Orleans on Sunday with his wife and two children. Whitman left his family in Lufkin, Texas, and decided to head to Cedar Falls, where the business's eight main computer servers are located.
"After 9/11, we wanted someplace safe from terrorism to house this information. After looking across the nation for data security systems, we finally decided upon Team Technologies in Cedar Falls," Whitman said.
Karla Myers, chief financial officer for Team Technologies, said Whitman called from Texas about coming up to work.
"It wasn't a question of if we could make it happen. We just said, 'We'll make it work for you,' " Myers said. |
