| Description | A small group of area business leaders announced formation of Republicans Against the Recall, saying it would create "an endless cycle of political instability."
"The recall petition against Gov. Gray Davis is the spark of what could be a calamitous political conflagration in California," said Scott Barnett, a land use and political consultant.
He was joined by developer Mike Madigan and Bill Marvin, former chairman of the San Diego County Republican Party, who said they oppose Davis but that he has done nothing to warrant being removed from office less than a year after his re-election.
