Description | Top Republican Legislators and Donors Join GOP Education Candidate's Campaign
Spartanburg, SC More than 75 Republican legislators, Republican Party leaders and prominent donors from across South Carolina formally endorsed Karen Floyd in the race for State Superintendent of Education.
The endorsements follow the release earlier this week of campaign finance reports that showed Floyd outpacing incumbent Democrat Inez Tenenbaum last quarter with $200,719 cash on hand. Tenenbaum's report showed $159,000 cash on hand.
"I am honored to have the endorsement of these distinguished legislators and community leaders. Their support, combined with the support of a diverse group of citizens across the state, will make a tremendous difference in my campaign to bring common-sense solutions to the problems facing our education system," Floyd said.
Among the group of 45 legislators endorsing Floyd are senators and representatives from across the Palmetto state, including Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell and Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler. Several prominent GOP fundraisers including John Rainey, Ambassador Bob Royall, Governor David Beasley, Champ Covington, and Barry Wynn also endorsed Floyd's campaign
