Description | NEWCOMERSTOWN -- For 12 years, Michael White was in the driver’s seat at Cleveland City Hall but since he has left he's been traveling down another road.
“The more we came the more we liked it,” White said. “The more we liked it the more we wanted to stay.”
Newcomers to the farming life in Newcomerstown, 100 miles south of Cleveland, they contend with 45 rolling acres with no big city hassles.
“[It’s] meaningful, rewarding, good for the soul, good for the heart and not bad for the pocketbook,” White said. “Emotionally, it’s wonderful to take care of animals and build the place we’ve built.”
The White’s run Seven Pines Farm raising, feeding, and breeding a pack of two dozen alpacas - easygoing, cute animals prized for their soft coat that makes expensive cushy clothes. It’s the best fiber you can buy anywhere in the world. |
