DescriptionCOLUMBUS - Former State Rep. Jean Schmidt, who is running for Congress, allegedly failed to report dinner and tickets to a Cincinnati Bengals' game that she and other state lawmakers received from a California biotech company.

Schmidt, who is running for the 2nd District Congressional seat, and three other lawmakers should have reported the entertainment package as a gift, said Tony Bledsoe, Ohio's legislative inspector general.

Bledsoe, however, said he cannot investigate Schmidt because she is no longer a state legislator.

Reps. Jim Raussen, R-Cincinnati; Diana Fessler, R-New Carlisle, and Michelle Schneider, R-Cincinnati, along with Schmidt, a Republican from Loveland, each should have reported the evening as a gift on their April disclosure forms, Bledsoe said.

Luxury seats to the Oct. 25 Monday night football game cost $300, and the total tab for the evening, which included dinner at an Italian restaurant, topped $5,000.

Because of a lobbyist's involvement, the event falls under the state law that prohibits lawmakers from accepting gifts from lobbyists valued at more than $75, Bledsoe said.
