Description | Will she? Will he? The political world is breathlessly awaiting word from Gov. M. Jodi Rell and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal about their intentions. Are they planning to run for governor next year?
Well, maybe the political world isn't waiting so breathlessly. By now, most people assume Rell is going to give it a shot. And most people assume Blumenthal isn't. Or maybe the political world is just suffering from Blumenthal fatigue. After all, Democrats have been down this road so many times that they just won't allow themselves to get lathered up over the idea of a Blumenthal gubernatorial run.
In 1994, '98 and '02, Democrats implored the man with the gold-plated resume to challenge John G. Rowland. They were disappointed each time. If Blumenthal stays true to form, he'll announce sometime before Labor Day that he's again taking a pass despite the fact that for 2 1/2 years, he's told anyone within earshot that he's keenly interested in the governor's office. |
