Description | CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Voters have overwhelmingly decided to try a new form of government.
In Tuesday's election, voters discarded the city's century-old commission system, which has a mayor and four full-time commissioners, for a council-manager form of government, which has a city manager and part-time council, including a part-time mayor.
About 69 percent of the 24,810 ballots cast were in favor of the measure. |
