Poll finds Frye, Sanders leading the pack in San Diego mayoral race

| Description | According to a Datamar survey released Sunday Councilmembers Donna Frye and Jerry Sanders have a strong lead over the rest of the San Diego mayoral candidates.
The surveys findings were based on a random sample telephone survey of 1,042 San Diego registered voters interviewed between June 6 and 8. The sampling error for the total sample is +/- 3.2 percent.
According to the survey, 41 percent of those surveyed said they would vote for Frye, while 34 percent went with Sanders.
Pat Shea and Myke Shelby are tied with 4 percent, Steve Francis received 3 percent, Richard Rider received 1 percent, and all other candidates received less than a percentage point. Since Datamars April poll, Sanders has made a significant jump, as that poll had him receiving less than 1 percent of voters support.
In other issues covered by the survey, San Diego voters have a negative view of the direction the city is heading with 49 percent of the voters saying the city is heading in the wrong direction, and only 20 percent saying the city is heading in the right direction. 58 percent of the voters do not approve of the job the city council is doing while 14 percent approve. |
