Description | COLUMBIA — Family, friends and political colleagues, including some with White House ties, paid tribute Tuesday to outgoing House Speaker David Wilkins of Greenville during his final ETV show, as candidates continued their run to succeed him either as a representative or as speaker.
Wilkins, who has been awaiting word from the White House officially announcing his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Canada before resigning his speaker's post, heard from President Bush's top political advisor Tuesday on his show but no mention of the final paperwork.
