Description | WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., May 23 - Jeanine F. Pirro, the three-term district attorney of Westchester County, said today that she would not run for a fourth term this year but would instead seek a statewide office in 2006, possibly challenging Hillary Rodham Clinton for her United States Senate seat.
Ms. Pirro has been mentioned by Republican party leaders as an ideal candidate for state attorney general, the office being vacated by Eliot Spitzer, who will seek the Democratic nomination for governor; the Senate; and governor, if her fellow Republican, George E. Pataki, decides against another term. |
