FAYETTEVILLE - Former state Rep. Mike Hathorn of Huntsville announced his Democratic bid for lieutenant governor on Tuesday.
Hathorn will face state Sen. Tim Wooldridge of Paragould in the May 23, 2006, party primary, along with any other Democratic hopefuls. Filing deadline for the office remains open until noon, April 4, 2006. Any runoff will be June 13, 2006. The winner of the Democratic primary can expect Republican opposition. The GOP has three announced candidates so far. Those are: State Sen. Jim Holt of Springdale; state Rep. Doug Matayo, also of Springdale; and Jim LaGrone, a pastor in Bryant.
Hathorn is an attorney with the law firm of Wilson and Associates in Fayetteville. He served three terms in the state House of Representatives, the legal limit under the state constitution. He served as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee for two of those terms. |
