Description | California Attorney General Bill Lockyer's statement that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is marked by "the odor of Austrian politics" and "arrogance of power" sparked debate Wednesday whether the Democratic politician made a misstep -- or a wily move to step to the front of the anti- Arnold pack.
"Bill has a colorful way of saying things," said Lockyer's political consultant, veteran Democrat Bill Carrick.
And that, he said, is one reason why "Bill Lockyer will be a very formidable opponent for Arnold Schwarzenegger -- because he's smart, he's bright, and he does say things that are as interesting as the governor's sound bites."
Lockyer plans to compete for the Democratic nomination to face the Republican governor -- should he run for re-election next year. |
