Description | State Sen. Thomas Kean Jr. said yesterday he plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2006.
Kean, 36, the son of former New Jersey Gov. Thomas H. Kean, said he was preparing a statement of candidacy and necessary paperwork so that he can begin to raise money through a federal campaign account.
The Union County Republican said his immediate priority is to get a GOP governor elected this year and to help Republicans regain control of the Assembly. However, to be competitive in a U.S. Senate run, Kean said he needs to start raising money before Jan. 1." |
