Description | DUBUQUE, Iowa The election is 20 months away and the Republican incumbent hasn't announced his plans, but Democrats are already lining up to run for Congress in eastern Iowa's First District.
Rick Dickinson, an economic development official in Dubuque, is announcing his intentions to run for the seat this weekend at a series of meetings with party activists.
The seat is currently held by Congressman Jim Nussle, a Republican who is widely expected to run for governor in 2006. He hasn't made a formal announcement on his plans yet.
Dickinson, a former state lawmaker, is the third Democrat to announce he will compete for the seat. The primary will be held in June 2006. |
