Description | OTTAWA - Parliamentarians approved the Liberal budget by a 132-73 margin, without any last-minute brinkmanship that could have triggered a snap election.
The entire Conservative caucus abstained, while the NDP and the Bloc Québécois voted against the budget.
Prime Minister Paul Martin's minority government survived a no-confidence vote on Monday and another on Tuesday over amendments tabled by the Conservatives and the Bloc. |
