| Description | Congressman Bob Beauprez (R-CD7) is the Republican Party's top candidate for statewide office right now, since Bill Owens has effectively ended his run with all of the rumors about his personal transgressions. Beauprez has won two straight competitive races, the last one by a strong margin; he is physically appealling and well-spoken; he is independently wealthy; and he has garnered a reputation for good constituent services that has drawn praise in his district and statewide. He is also as Republican as it gets, with a voting record in Congress that sides nearly 100% of the time with the party. That would be enough to make him the GOP Golden Boy in itself, but Bobby B is also a fierce campaigner with no apparent moral qualms about viciously attacking his opponents with negative ads and mailers. There is no doubt that he has the killer instinct to run hard in a statewide race. |
