Description | TALLAHASSEE · South Florida pari-mutuels and out-of-state gambling interests have raised more than $3.7 million in their quest to convince Broward and Miami-Dade voters to sanction Las Vegas-style slot machines.
In a Friday filing with the state Division of Elections, Yes for Better Schools and Jobs reported that it raised the $3.7 million between Jan. 1 and Feb. 11. The two biggest contributors were Calder Race Course in Miami-Dade, which gave $1.1 million, and the Biloxi-based Isle of Capri Casinos, the owner of Pompano Harness Track, weighing in with a little more than $1 million. |
