Our tendency -- being parents and children ourselves, having sympathetic hearts, keenly aware of the complexities of life -- is to not make a fuss over the daughter of the arch-conservative former senatorial candidate announcing she's a lesbian. Respect their privacy and family dynamics.
No argument here. Except that Keyes threatens to run again for public office, and his program would greatly affect other families' lives and privacy. So we must ask him: Why is your daughter a lesbian?
