Description | "February 14 - The latest catalyst was a luncheon meeting early last week between Sharpe James, who has racked up a longer tenure as Newark ’s mayor than any of his predecessors, and Steve Adubato Sr., a veteran city power-broker who’s provided critical support for James during the mayor’s 35-year political career.
When word of that sit-down leaked, it launched a new round of speculation that the mayor, a battle-tested pol on the cusp of his 70th birthday, is readying himself to seek an unprecedented sixth term in 2006, which would pit him in a rematch against Cory Booker, the former city councilman whose challenge he fended off in ugly fashion in 2002."
