Description | Third District Councilwoman Saundra McFadden-Weaver was surviving a recall attempt Tuesday in what was thought to be the first Kansas City recall election in 80 years.
With 83 percent of the precincts reporting, central city voters were deciding by 69 percent to 31 percent that McFadden-Weaver should not be removed from the City Council.
The 3rd District extends roughly from Independence Avenue south to 46th Street and from Troost Avenue to Blue Ridge Cutoff.
It is the council district with the highest crime rate, highest unemployment and lowest housing values. |
