Description | Philadelphia Inquirer article.
An excerpt...
"Pa. Rep. Alan Butkovitz has strong party backing. John Braxton, a former judge, is also in the race."
"State Rep. Alan Butkovitz (D., Phila.) kicked off a campaign yesterday to be the city's next controller, standing on a stage that groaned under the weight of the Democratic leaders backing him.
Organizational support matters more than usual in off-year primary elections, which usually feature low voter turnout, and Butkovitz already has lined up pledges of help from most of the important party ward leaders and elected officials.
He also has at least 12 times the money of his rival in the May 17 Democratic primary, former Common Pleas Court Judge John Braxton." |
