Description | Gov. Tim Pawlenty has the power of continuing popularity behind him in his negotiations with the Minnesota Legislature, which has fallen into public disfavor, according to the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.
In a survey that ended the day after Pawlenty's budget proposal was released last week, 56 percent of adult Minnesotans approved of the governor's performance
Comparing Pawlenty to former President Ronald Reagan, Jacobs suggested he is becoming "the Teflon governor. ... He's disarming, he doesn't look like a politician who's got his hands in the cookie jar. Democrats are having difficulty pinning the budget cuts on him, and Minnesotans are not buying that the state's problems are his creation." |
